Like mr bee says, need to know about revenues, nowhere does the guy talks about it, he talks about how nice the truck is, motor blablabla.

This has been done many times thru the years, FTI did that in the early 80's I think,
This is only a way to attract drivers and hold them for a long term.
The #### truck is never yours and in rare cases it will be yours.

Old dirty tricks, thats what this BS is.

I would run away from it.

12000 miles running a flat deck? not likely.
4,800/mth, = .40/mile - not good for pulling a flat deck. I make more /mile as a company driver pulling a van and average aboot 14,000 miles a month.

How do you figure you wouldn't do 12000 miles/month in flatbed? If I do normal driving, that's what I do. If I push it a little, I can easily get 15000miles/month.

Thats what you do where you are now, cant garantee it will be the same over there and thats the problem, it's all hypothetic.

In this day and age, you cant have a good business plan on "maybe's" "if's" and "probabilities".

    Excellent point.

Just because you can do it Healthy Driver doesn't mean others can. Maybe you're one of the very few who do not sit or spend all day waiting for loads for free while hours of driving opportunity sail out the window unpaid...
There's only so many hours in a month.

The reason some companies are offering lease programs is due to discrimination laws. We are seeing more O/O jobs opening up because of this also. I am not necessarily saying I agree with this, but it is a reality.

According to 3 different trucking companies, if they advertise for drivers, and dont hire immigrants/minorities etc, they end up being sued for discrimination. They can however, say they dont like a certain type of truck or when an application is made for a lease, they can say "Sorry, you just didnt qualify".

Not everyone has $20,000 for a down payment and startup costs, so the company lease might be their only option, not that its the best option.

If you don't have access to the money for the first and last lease payments then don't ever think of getting into the never never plan.

could be one of the reasons but I dont think so, the main reason companies attract owner operators this way (no money down) is 1 to make sure the driver is "financially tied down" they put on the road a new truck but dont have to worry about paying for it, the drivers has all the financial responsibilities and if he or she fails, (wich I bet is a high probability) then they take over the truck and "sell it" to another prospect.

Plus lets say they have 50 trucks on their fleet, 20 of them are owner operators on a "never never lease" program, they end up having 50 trucks but are financialy responsible for 30, that looks good in the financial statement of the company.

good for the companies but very dangerous for the prospects.

Dpends which company you work for but in Ontario allot of places you'll be lucky to get 8,000 miles a month with a flatbed, I never worked for Tri Line so can't say.

I've only pulled flatbed for 2 companies, both out of Winnipeg, and I can easily pull 3000/wk. But, again, that's pulling out of where I live.
