The oil patch is really taking this price downturn seriously, a lot of layoffs in Calgary this time..?
Just saying, in 08 oil prices fell below $40 and everyone was flat out... A lot of slashing for a $50 barrel ? -

I'd love to send you $ 10,000 as an advance and ownership rights on your book ..... the book where you go into detail about the past five years of your life ........ but I don't have the coin right now ...... in the alternative, I have saved up six ( count 'em - 6 !! ) Roll Up The Rim rimmers .. for COFFEE ! .... and I'll send you those ..... ?
Ok now ...... really ..... I think I still have the right to bug you because YOU DID after all drive a green and white parking lot !!!

In all honesty I would still be at the job I held before and would have been coming up on 2 years if they didn't start jerking me around and trying to change the way they wanted to pay us. I sat waiting for 3 weeks for work as I knew they were in between projects but they started offering the work to people who made less and who hadn't worked at the company as long. I got the feeling they were pushing me out so I decided to just leave rather than drain my bank account as Christmas was coming and that would have been 2 months off work.
Took a job running quad wagon tankers since I really didn't have to look for it as a couple old coworkers went there and I basically had a job waiting and I figured I'd give tanking a shot. Did that for a month a half before I got the call from my current company wanting me to come for an interview. I had applied there back In June and it was January when they called me. Couldn't say no, 40 mins from home, weekends off, moving oversize loads and machinery with a great company that treats there employees well. It's where I always wanted to end up someday.
Speedloader Thanks this. -

Prairie Boy Thanks this.

That's what I told the current employees too. Luckily that change came into effect 2 days after I left but they all wouldn't fight it and just accepted the 20/hr standby rate.

PB is way more informed than I am, but what I'm thinking this is just a knee jerk reaction.
Mid Stream company's laying off people that work at the source of revenue... ? Bean counters in Calgary are trying to save themselves by cutting field jobs and rates from service companies... Nope, bean counters in Calgary surfin the net all day is where they need to bring out the chain saws...
