There is money to be made... You just need to know where to look...
I make $60,000/yr plus overtime (I made 85k last year)...... I have full benefits I don't pay a penny into the benefits and I don't pay anything when I use the benefits (ie dispensing fees)... I have a very good pension plan.... half a year worth of sick time, float days and when your a new employee you start with 3 weeks and work your way up (I am at 4 weeks vac..)
I know there are jobs that also pay more hourly then I make (but not same benefits and pension etc...)... You can find jobs at $20+/hr in Ontario if you look around and wanna haul certain types of products....
As for living... I live near the city so it cost more money to live here then in the boonies.... You can't tell someone that living in the city is better then living in the boonies for less money... I for one would love to move out of the city limits not because it's cheaper (that is a bonus tho) but because its QUIETER, NO TRAFFIC, NO BS ..... Life is so much easier in the boonies.... It's more of a simple life...
