    Hello Everyone,

After a month long application process, I finally start my first shift at Sysco this Thursday. I was just wondering if anyone has any feedback, comments, or anything note-worthy to point out from their experience/knowledge of Sysco.

    Thanks a ton in advance!

    Cheers,
    Vman

Thanks for the honest response, Laci73! Yea the pay is the the same. They say almost $28 after one year. I have 6 weeks training. Do you start driving right away?

I'm 38, and reasonably good shape. I know it's gonna be a tough road ahead.

I'm used to driving in tight spaces, as I pulled a Moffett forklift behind me, and been to jobsites I had no business being in. Honestly, I'm worried about driving a 10 speed...I've only driven an 18 speed. I thought I did bad on my Sysco driving test, but I guess I didn't do that bad.

How are the benefits and perks? Did you leave on your own terms??

Sorry, I'm not allowed to post a PM yet, as I haven't met the 7 post minimum yet.

Laci73...Did you have to do the physical abilities test? Apparently it's a new thing they've added. Also, are the trucks GPS tracked? I heard that some citites are, but things seem to differ from company to company.

10 speed is more easy! Less gears to worry about... :biggrin_2559:

Some shifts you have to get up very early. Drive to the yard and all. The thing I like about OTR is I'm at work all the time and my commute is 3 feet. Bed to seat.

I don't mind getting up early, I'm a morning person, and used to bad traffic, but having said that, I woke up at 4:30, started at 5:30 and sometimes worked 10-12 hr days. It would be a challenge to to that and have to wake up at say 2 or 2:30 AM.

Most of the sysco trucks in Victoria were automatics. The pace you have will be brutal, you don't just walk with that dolly you run with it.

Watch out during summer you will want to know your route inside out by then because your amOunt of deliveries and product will triple
