What exactly is the beginners test and who is administering it? Where did you buy the "Official truckers book? Is this through a trucking school? Please clarify.

there is a knowledge test before the road test. for Class A. You being from ontario Im surprised you did not know this -
I guess I misunderstood when you called it a "beginners test". The written test that you take is similar to the class G test other than it pertains to class A. If you study the book that the ministry puts out, you shouldn't have any issues. You also have to do a written and practical test for your air brake "Z" portion. Although it shouldn't be this way, I have been told that each test location has examiners that are a little more "harder to please" than others.

I'm not from Ontario but when I took my test for class 3(dz) the part I had the most problem with was the pre-trip and hours of service. I know it's more involved for the class1(az) but I found most of the test to be mostly common sense and the regular rules of the road. Oh, and if you are not mechanically inclined, I would really pay attention to anything pertaining to air brakes. Without a working model on hand, it can be difficult to visualize. I found anyway.
Is there a local driving school you can contact that might be able to tell you what you should study? Like, maybe the one you are planning to go to?
