    Hi

I am a British citizen who is in a relationship with a Canadian.

I am looking for a Canadian trucking company that hires drivers on temporary foreign worker contracts. Preferably with a LMO (labour market opinion )

I am an experienced class 1 driver currently living in Canada as a visitor.

Best to post on the Canadian section. You're probably not going to get accurate info from a US trucker regarding immigration situations. You don't say whether you live in the US or the UK. Personally I'd approach a lawyer and get some free advice as I once did, or call a couple of Canadian companies who may have the skinny on this kind of thing.
BTW I'm a Brit and have lived here legally since 1988, but I found out thru trial and error the ins and outs of what to do. Marrying the gal is one solution, but I'm not sure if Canadian immigration is different to the US. You probably know that you can't just come over from the UK and apply for a job in Canada. But you'd be amazed how many people believe that.
    Good luck

    Just found the Canadian section!

Our problem is that my partner of 7 years earns just under the threshold that she needs to sponsor me into Canada and lives in a high unemployment area and her income is limited by seasonal employment. I am currently in Canada as a visitor. And really shouldn't be looking for a job while a visitor!

Had lots of advice from lawyers over the years and spent thousands of dollars on so called free advice!

You would think that since we have the same Queen it would not be a problem.
    Seems it is.

Every country has tightened up their immigration policies in recent years. What I did to get into the US you can't do that anymore. It was easy in the old days but now, much more difficult. Unless you have a specific skill. I know more about US immigration than I do of my own country.

For a quick trip thru Quebec, have that Englishman get on a bike and pedal across Quebec while singing God Save the Queen. Record breaking speed on 2 wheels guaranteed. lol

I am also an expat who has been in Canada since 2005, I started work for a Company in New Brunswick (Ayr Motor Express) back in Sept 2005 and I am still there.
The HR team at Ayr will help you with LMO and Permanent residence and I know they recruit all over Canada from Branches in Winnipeg, Mississauga, Dorval and Woodstock NB.
Ask to speak to Dale or Ralph in HR and go from there.
A long haul driver from the UK still has a lot to learn about North American trucking so be open minded and prepared to absorb info.
Go to AYRMOTOR.COM and follow the links to foreign driver opps.
They are not the only outfit in NB that are hiring drivers but I think they have the most experience with overseas drivers and LMO"S etc.
    Good Luck,
    Supernova.

You can PM me if you need more info.

    Prairie Boy Thanks this.

Have you considered Canadian Spousal Sponsorship? That seems like a reasonable road to go down...
