Isn't there a monopoly law in Canada? Manitoulin's been up to the same shenanigans. Smooth Freight trailers started showing up in the yard a few months ago. I hauled an empty J&R Hall unit out of Whitehorse the other week and was searching the internet on the smartphone, praying that they hadn't been eaten by Manitoulin, too (they hadn't).
I was seeing Rosenau hauling Byers and CF trailers on AB43/BC2 by Demmitt/Hythe so often lately, I did a search on THAT and found Rosenau is acting as an agent for Transforce in Dawson Creek and Fort St John (so there's still some LTL carriers under the original owner). Between these two companies, so many jobs and wages have been cut that it makes me feel hyper negative on the industry.... TAG (alliance group) is offering $700 flat for company team to Whitehorse and $1400 flat for company team to Inuvik. The math on this is about $12/hour for the driver in the summer and much less in the winter.
I would say this is the worst pay I've heard lately, but a former company team I know went to New Way Trucking and is getting $740 flat to Whitehorse on the Walmart but they have to pick it up at SCM in Calgary departing from Edmonton FIRST.
Help us all. Kraft dinner will soon be a gourmet meal.
