Even for a short time, you're still an employee. No such thing as "Just a little bit pregnant".

This is a fight I had with a customer years ago.....we all used to use the sub-contractor method years ago, but through education and changes in the laws I had converted all of my guys to "employees". The problem was the company that I had trucks with had all of the other o/o's still doing it the wrong way, and they continue to this day. Sad really, but aggravating too; I could not compete with the staff or the rates because I was doing it legally. Subs are fare cheaper when you don't have source deductions and stat holidays, vacation pay, etc. I really wish Rev Can would level the playing field once and for all. I'm sick to death of losing work to guys that cut rates by running illegal.

Geez. I have never hired a contractor or worked under someone as one before in owned trucks but I always thought it would be better as an employee because you could write off more and take home more in pocket money at the end of the year.... guess not?

Whoooo ! There's a loaded question. In my work I continue, it seems, to float between a co. driver and an o/o. This is because I follow the work. I could post all the $$ pro's and con's of each aspect, but I'd probably kill the server !

So why do you post a wage rate when you are looking for drivers?. Why not just advertise "Looking for drivers, please provide credentials and how much you will work for"?.
