The "DPF Status" gauge is the reading from the gas pressure sensor on the motor side of the DPF. The same information can be obtained using the (rip-off priced) Cummins diagnostic software. The diagnostic software also reveals what happens when the exhaust temperature is low (idling in winter and driving empty in winter) - the DPF filter clogs up. Sometimes a (regen) burn-off will unclog it but if it's cold enough, particulate will accumulate to the point where a burn-off removes less particulate than what is accumulating and the filter will have to be removed to the Easy Bake Filter Oven to make it fresh again.

I'd be keeping that unit too if I was getting 87mpg!

My dpf was $800.00 to clean that also included replacement of def fluid filter, sensor cleanings and 7th injector r&r and egr cooler removal and cleaned (clean the carbon out to prevent hot spots and premature failure). This was on a paccar engine. I have the full gauge package and my dpf filter showed needing cleaned at 240k with 3% idle time as i have an apu. Trk now has 400k and according to read out last week from ecm i had run engine has never done a parked regen only rolling regens and only 15 of them. Idling is very hard on the dpf filter
