I was talking with another op out there with a DD15 who stated they paid around $1200 to have the DPF cleaned. Theirs is a 2014 Coronado.
I was just quoted $2000 by a Pete Dealer for my ISX. 6 hours to remove the filter alone.
Anyone else with an ISX that's paying that much?
Thanks for your input!

I've heard some people remove them themselves and it's not that hard to do... Would save the labour on that part
-
Also from what kenworth told me they send it to cummins to do the cleaning. Maybe check with cummins directly as to what they charge
-
Sending it to Cummins might be the way to go, I didn't know they sent it out. The six hours trying to figure out how to take it out is a no go... I've had this truck running like a dream for the past year, and i'm a bit reluctant to screw around with it.
Thanks Nate! As always your a wealth of information! -
is the doc fine?
cleanable, replaceable?
in the dd15 its not, dunno aboot the isx -
The DPF should only take 15-20 minutes for a good shop to take out.
If the truck has been a dream for the last year, the filter should be in good condition.
It should only be around 400 to have it cleaned. Another 120 for new gaskets.
Make sure they do an opacity test after cleaning to insure they got everything back together correctly.
Don't do a filter swap unless you own the replacement filter as you have no idea where it came from. It might have been an oil soaked filter from another truck that was cleaned and swapped with yours. It wont work the same.
Keep calling around, you can find a good shop for quite a bit cheaper.Sarabeara Thanks this. -
Contact Global Heat Transfer in Edmonton at 780-448-3600 (50th Street and Eleniak Road). They now only sell them but clean them also. I recall 2 years ago it was about $300.00 for a total clean-up. I understand some of those filters run into $3,000. + to buy from Kenworth/Pete etc.
Sarabeara Thanks this. -
I'll try to give Global Heat a call tomorrow PB. Thanks! You're right about the $3000. I was told by Cummins in Lloyd, that they are preferring to swap filters instead of cleaning them. Bcase mentions above not to swap as the filter could have been oil soaked.
Really good information here. Interesting how the dealerships and Cummins have different variables as to how often this should be done. From 3500 hours to 4500 hours to 6750 hours, to bahhh, don't worry till the light comes on.
Thanks again folks for your input. -

Sarabeara, do your new pete's have that dpf gauge that is supposed to tell how full it is? Does it actually work? When I had my 09 w9 with cat engine, I remember paying about 400-450 to have it cleaned at a cat shop ...
