    hi.

i'm new to the forum but have been reading a lot of the posts, i just can't find what i'm looking for.

I'd really appreciate some information on driving jobs in the oil fields of Alberta with flights included. i live in new brunswick at the present time but would like to relocate to the Toronto area, London is a possibility too.

i've been a class one truck driver for twelve years and i'm looking for a job where i can work a 14/7 rotation, even better would be a 7/7 but i doubt that's possible, with flights paid.

i hear people talking about Vac truck jobs paying $500 a day with flights paid, is there any truth in that?

thanks in advance for any info...........

Try Clean Harbours, Trican, Sanjel, You're going to more than likely show up in their offices though.
Not my business - but if you're moving - why not move further west?

thanks for the quick response, how do you mean "show up in their offices"? would i have to go out to speak to them before getting a job or do you mean that people looking for that kind of job generally end up working for them?

with regards to moving further west, the reason we want to move to the toronto area is for the cheap and relatively short flight back to england. we have elderly relatives there and need to be able to jump on a plane and go without delay.

when working out in the oil fields, are the wages guaranteed? i mean i don't want to be out there away from home and not earning anything. don't get me wrong, i am used to being away from home all the time but with only a few hours at home when i get there. this is why the 14/7 rotation is appealing to me.

Most resumes will be ignored Phil. Showing up at an office will give you immediate responses.
Nothing is guaranteed Phil. Did I think it was worth it? Yes, along with the other thousand people who
either moved here, or commute here

Some camps are crap - plain and simple. Cold Lake and Firebag are good.
Have you already got your safety tickets -and do you have experience with tankers including loading or unloading?

Again, it depends on what you're doing if there will be spring shut down or not.

i don't have the tickets yet and no experience with tankers, i've carried liquids before but not in tankers.

i thought i'd get the tickets closer to the time i need them, there doesn't seem any point until i know i'm definitely going out there.

what kind of jobs shut down for spring?
