Didn't this 450 a day thing upset a few people?

There was some chatter on a different post in regards to pay and 450 a day was the figure discussed.

Ooh. Wish I could find it, I would like to hear what others think about it and why.

Never mind. ..I found it. Seemed to be one guy complaining, thinking he's worth more than he is for what he does.

Was hard to figure out now that this forum blocks anything they don't like.

I remember reading that series of post as well, but I think it was removed because the commentary was getting insulting on a personal level. Anyway...the gist was that 450 a day wasn't that much if you're working 12 to 14 hour days or more. Then they started breaking it down between 15 on and 6 off, which the comments calculated the hourly rate down around $15.

That said, when I was working in my corporate banking management career I was paid for 7.5 hours a day, but always worked more. So, by the explanation my hourly would have been half of what it was just because of the actual time I worked. A very simplistic approach to calculating pay.

Add in Edmonton Sun this AM for drivers to work out of Lloydminster. $33.00/hour, place to live and car to get around.

Sounds like a good gig. I bet they run a 24 hour truck so you are limited to 12 hours a day max, the 33/hr I'm guessing is straight time (could be wrong). The 24 hour guys supply a crew vehicle for swapping out.

I have a buddy from PEI running 5 or 6 fluid trucks. His 'shop' is actually a converted house. A bunk house actually. The truck pulls up. There's a slip seat. Truck leaves. Some guys live close by and go home. Some guys stay in the house all week and go home on the weekends. All 5 trucks go 24/7. He keeps two older 1/2 tons at the house for the guys to run errands in. The only limit on the drivers is the fact that they can only run 12 hours max and have to be within a certain radius of the 'shack'. When all is said and done, the guys are well paid/benefited and over all well looked after.

Re-read the post - FROM PEI - They all live in either AB or SK. There are only 3 EX-PAT Maritimer's in the crew .........

...... and you've obviously never been to the 'first coast'

    Prairie Boy Thanks this.
