Can anyone tell what US based trucking companies go to Alberta the most. Specifically the Calgary Red Deer area. I've already asked the US drivers and all I seem to get is sales pitches no real answers. I currently work for a company here in the states whose trucks I saw a lot while I was in Calgary for six months. Unfortunately the terminal I work out of doesn't have loads headed that way. I would appreciate any help you guys may be to me. The reason I'm asking is I plan on immigrating to Calgary since that's where my fiancé lives. My original plan was to just save up and apply. It would be nice to get loads home to see her more often that's the reason for the question. My alternative is to find a company that will hire an American driver. I've been keeping an eye on job bank and have the kijiji app on my phone.

You may want to dig further. If you are applying for citizenship, you can't visit here. My neighbour had to visit her fiancée in the states during the time he was going through the citizenship process. You cannot just be hired here. You have to qualify for a work visa. Contact CBSA, they will give you the steps to follow.

Thanks for the information I'm aware of the policy in regards to work permits. I haven't applied for permanent residence yet but when I do I will do it in country. That way we don't waste money on visits.

You haven't mentioned where your located now, so it may be tough to advise you.

You could try calling truck stops and asking them whose trucks they see a lot.

You could also try some companies that have both US and Canadian operations. Trimac (based in Calgary!), and Schneider (but they may be based/focused on Ontario). Most likely there are not many (none at all) companies that have all their cross border shipping terminate in Calgary.

To make it worthwhile you'd need to do a reset in Calgary, eh?

I'm currently in Phoenix and yep reset in Calgary is my plan lol. I contacted Celadon since they are based in the states and Canada. I'm just doing plenty of research trying to find the best possible solution. Again I appreciate all the help.

I mostly hang around the east and never get to AB but Schnieder is everywhere I think. I also see England. CRST. Walmart.
