    Hey all,

So I am almost done my course and have started looking for jobs. Unfortunately, ghosts from my less then stellar driving history are haunting me and basically screwing me out of getting a job. What are my options here? If I move to another province, will I start fresh? Will my Ontario A still be valid? Is there a carrier who will take me on until my record clears? Need some advice, this is beginning to look like I may have wasted my time....

You my friend are probably fcuked. Your abstract will follow you. If anyone will or can hire you they will hold your abstract over you then pay you accordingly. You'll soon find out you can make more working at Kentucky fried chicken. My dad always told me look after your licence it may pay your bills one day. I listened.

I know this may not be a great idea but may still work, what about going straight to O/O? I word then be insuring my own truck and thus just hauling for another company so my abstract wouldn't be as big a factor?

just keep searching and i'm sure you'll find someone willing t give you a chance, as stated you might have to take a bit of pay cut until everything looks a lil up. Thats what happened to me. I've been at the same place for almost 14 years. They just took a 50 cent cut an hour till my record cleared. It cost them $2200 a year more to insure me back then.

May I ask which carrier it was that gave you a chance? Kriska was my first confirmed no, and they hire direct from my school so I am starting to worry that I am gonna end up at TransX or somewhere else I keep hearing bad reviews on... And I am assuming most smaller carriers arnt gonna take that hit on the insurance.

Do you have any DUI violations, or more than 3 moving violations?

No it's not a great idea. It's a terrible idea. Fast track to bankruptcy.

Ontario lets your drivers go too long before intervention .. We had a guy with a reasonable abstract from ontario move to manitobia after 1 ticket they promptly suspended him due to stuff that falls off slower here as compared to ontario .. Try to find a job there elsewhere may be harder as more stuff counts against Your license .we aren't allowed to reduce or save points like Ontario does
