I'm looking for driver training in the Ottawa area and I'm wondering what the best school is. I did a quick search and found that most schools run about $5000 or more but one school I looked at was less than $1000. I'm just wondering what the difference is between these schools and what the pros and cons are.

Welcome to the forum. $1000 ? Really ? Please look into this one a bit more for us. I, for one, am pretty curious what you can still get for $1000 in class 1 training ! What is their website? Finally, I'm not familiar with Capital Region training, so I can't answer that, but I'm sure someone will pipe up. G'Luck.

$1000 one likely unregistered school and would be suspect of training you will get. 5k common for training in Ontario.

The AZ course for under $1000 is from http://metrotrucktraining.com has anyone been trained by them?

Now that i look again it's in Mississauga not Ottawa.

Im just wondering how two courses that offer the same certification can be 6 times apart in price.

(1) You're hungry right ? You go into McDonalds. Now, do you want the value pick meal deal ? Or do you want the Big Mac meal deal ? What I'm saying is I think you're going to get what you for.
(2) Why don't YOU just call them ALL and ask point blank ? .... And let us know what they tell you. I, for one, am pretty curious. -
But if both places offer the Big Mac i should get the one that is 6 times cheaper even if i dont get pickles. The goal for me is to get licensed and get driving. If both places can do that for me I'd have to be stupid to shell out 6 grand when i can pay $900. Right?

Speedloader Thanks this.

You get what you pay for. One teaches you just enough to pass the pre trip and road test. The other teaches you everything needed to be a truck driver. That includes border crossing, log books, weights and dimensions, regulations and so on. If you have zero experience you should already know which one you should take.
futuretrucker1980 Thanks this.
