I am retiring from the military with my Class 1 and heading to Calgary for work in the logistics side of transport business for now. The wife wants to retire in the kingston ON area, could a Class 1 owner-operator in a todays business market, make a steady living in this area with an average yearly income around $65000 or more after business expenses? With a decent home life?
ex... Kingston/Bellville area to Halifax twice a week
Kingston/Bellville to Calgary once a week
Kingston/Bellville daily Toronto or Montreal 5 days a week?
Thx

Is it possible to make money? Sure..
Hauling cans from Toronto to Montreal brought in over $4k a week to the truck, which I think is pretty good considering I was home every other day. Question is do you already own a truck or do you plan on buying one? -
Not yet
Buying vs Leasing? Have any input? -
Is there still similar work available for an owner operator? Would i need a trailer or would you run with theirs?

What? Your company drivers make $12k a month or your o/os?
$4500/week, CN chassis, home every other night. I'm not money hungry and don't need millions. I live comfortably.
Making 5k a week here in Vancouver and home every night.. Oh and no snow.. -
plus H&W plan etc. etc. etc. Holiday pay is 6% of gross. Plus 10 hours and time and half for a Public Holiday. And when the driver comer in they don't crawl under the truck. we have mechanics that do that. -
When do I start?
