Hi I am a young 56 yr old ex construction worker with previous DZ experience, I hope to be attending school soon for AZ PDTI but I have some questions that I am hoping you exp guys or girls would answer.
I have some minor convictions on my criminal record that are from 20+ years ago. I have submitted my electronic fingerprinting to the RCMP and am awaiting the results in a few weeks.
I have checked on the US list of -Crimes that make you inadmissible to the U.S. and they do not appear so I am confident I can apply for a US Waiver and later a FAST card.
Does the fact I do not have a clean criminal record disqualify me from getting a job , even if its just driving a truck in Canada.....
Do you know of any companies that will still hire subject to their own background check...
I would appreciate any advice comments or questions
Thanks!

I think you would be okay driving in Canada, but if you got a pardon, I have heard from some guys that US customs still gives you the gears when you cross, and sometimes are refused entry if you get a real jerk in the booth.
And I think the Conservative government has upped the fee for a pardon to $800 or something astronomical like that.AJTrucker Thanks this. -

Get a pardon first. If you cross into the U.S. And they find anything on your record, you will be in there system forever....period! 38 years later, I still must reapply for a waiver every 5 years at a cost of 5 hundred dollars for a minor theft conviction....only a pardon from a President will eliminate it.

Why would anyone want to run the US anyway?

I still get into the US with a Break and Enter and Theft Under $5000... They really only care about Weapon, Drug and Assault type charges from what I've personally learned.. Then again its up to the border agent....

If you know of any Canadian carriers that dont force drivers to cross the border I would appreciate it.
