    Hi Fellow Truckers,
I am looking into moving back to Toronto, and I wanted to know how the trucking industry is. I am an owner and I have a good driver.
Few questions for the knowledgeable or experienced would be great.
What is the Avg Pay Rate for Experienced Drivers cpm?
What are the average rates for 53' Dry Van
How much is registration for the Truck
How much is registration for the Trailer
Is there a Highway Tax if so how much?
Are there many leasing companies that I can lease onto and what percentage do they charge?
Is the 34/hr restart also mandatory in Canada.
Any other information you wish to provide would be great.

I am currently running in the U.S. with an average of $2.20 USD @2500-2900 miles a week 4000km-4640km

    Thank You

I CAN HELP WITH A FEW OF YOUR QUESTIONS:

-Avg Rate for experience driver is about .44-.46 cpm
-cnd mandatory reset is 36 hrs, not 34 but you do have the 120/14 if you are running Canada only
-shouldn't be hard to get 2500-3000 mpw

None of the resets, U.S. 34 hours, Canadian Cycle 1 (70/7) 36 hours, nor Canadian Cycle 2 (120/14) 72 hours are mandatory. You can run continuously on recap hours under all of them. There is a mandatory 24 hour rest period under both Canadian Cycles. For Cycle 1 it is within the previous 14 days, with Cycle 2 it is before exceeding 70 hours on-duty.

Whichever Canadian Cycle you run is up to the carrier and running Canada only or Canada/U.S has no bearing.

You are right, I shouldn't have said mandatory. But logical.

Is that unrealistic or something? What would be an average in Canada ? or what are some people averaging?

I am a company driver, but most of the radio chatter I hear between owner operators Sens to peg rates at around $1.70 or so.

So what you're saying is you want a response from someone that will convert the CDN rate per mile to see if it will match the US rate you posted. Anybody that runs Canada only could give a rats ### what the US rate is or what it equals in US dollars.

    DO IT YOURSELF !!!
