One by one, the dump trucks pulled out into the already heavy traffic. And one by one, they honked their horns, scaring unsuspecting drivers half to death.
But as the 150-truck convoy made it onto Hwy. 410, it was clear police instructions to keep above 60 km/h had been taken on board.
Dump truck drivers are fed up by poor wages they say hadn't kept up with rising trucking costs and unsafe working conditions.

8 OR 9 TONNES OVER The Ontario Dump Truck Association claims most trucks are designed for a load of 21 tonnes, but excavators, road builders and construction firms they work for routinely overload the trucks by eight or nine tonnes.
