Rock-throwing man targets 401 truckers

Police are on the hunt for a parked car and a full grown man after a rock and sign were thrown at two separate transport trucks on Highway 401 early Tuesday morning.
The driver of an eastbound truck reported that around 2:45 a.m., someone threw a rock from the Union Road overpass which smashed the vehicle's windshield. The driver was not injured in the crash.

Shorty thereafter, a second truck driver also eastbound was almost injured after a sign was thrown from the same overpass which shattered the windshield and barely missed striking the driver.
"He wasn't injured but it came pretty close," said Const. Troy Carlson, spokesperson for Elgin OPP. "That's quite serious... (it) could have caused serious harm or even killed him."

One of the drivers reported they saw a "full grown" man as well as a parked car at the overpass when the incident occurred.
Carlson said OPP are appealing for the public's help and hope someone may have seen something suspicious on Union Road around the time of the incident.
Anyone with information is asked to call OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
