Trailer Tough economy hurts Transforce trucking

Tough economy hurts Transforce trucking

CANADA
10/30/08

Quote:
Transforce Inc. reported seven per cent lower profits during the third quarter of 2008, but grew revenues 23 per cent largely through acquisitions, during tough times for the transportation industry.

Transforce reported profits of $26.5 million or 31 cents a share, down from $28.5 million, or 33 cents a
share, because of changes to income tax expense during the trucking company's conversion from an income trust to a corporation during the second quarter.
Revenues grew by 23 per cent to $595 million for the period ended Sept, 30, compared to the same period a year earlier, while pre-tax earnings grew 31 per cent to $38.4 million.

THey just shut the doors on TRANSPEL this afternoon , was the 6th largest fleet in Quebec when TRANSFORCE bought them in 2004 , they squeezed them $ wise to get rid of the UNION deal sort of like they almost did with HIGHLAND.
