There is a trucker's protest convoy on December 19th, 2008 in Ontario.

You can check out the details on Facebook and register whether you will attend.

Information can be found on Facebook. Just do a search for "speed limiter protest".

Wait until the law goes into effect . There will be plenty of protests from 4 wheelers , especially on the 402 where they only have 2 lanes . A lot of truck drivers are going to see no reason to move out of the left lane when they are going the speed limit .

speed limiters suck!!!! I'm not that up to date on the stats but I have never heard of a car truck accident where the speed of the truck was the cause I like to go fast too but why doesn't the gov'nt limit the speed of cars??? I drive a cavilier and it cuts out at about 175 why even bother?

Here's the stats . Excessive speed is a factor in 8% of truck accidents BUT in 80% of those accidents the "excessive speed " is under 65 m.p.h. - on ramps , rural roads , in construction zones , or in states with split speed limits . So in .04% of accidents with excessive speed as a factor the speed is over 65 m.p.h. . BUT safety experts know there are multiple factors in most accidents . Removing one factor wouldn't have prevented the accident . For example - if a driver has his cruise control set a 68 m.p.h. in a 65 m.p.h. zone and one of the following happens : He dozes off at the wheel , he has a heart attack or other medical problem , he is distracted dialing a phone or picking up something he dropped , and so on . Excessive speed would be recorded as a factor but the accident would have occurred at the legal speed .
Here are the results of the study on the effects of the Ontario Speed Limiter Law http://www.tc.gc.ca/roadsafety/tp/tp14807/menu.htm
Note the study finds as traffic nears capacity speed limiters have a negative effect on safety and they cause increased unsafe passing on rural roads . The Ontario government pushed the bill through before the results of this study were published .

Good I hope the prove a point and don't just make a spectical to piss off even more of the motoring public. Read an article a while ago (don't remember all details) about a group of university students who lined up across 4 lanes of traffic and did the exact speed limit they broke no laws and caused a traffic jam noticeable for something like 30mi. something to think about.
