Ford to resurrect Taurus name

Ford to resurrect Taurus name
2/6/07
Quote:
DETROIT - Ford Motor Co. might hope resurrecting the once-mighty Taurus name will help reverse lackluster sales and a lack of desirable cars.
One analyst says it's a good start but the automaker has a long way to go.
Ford will rename its slow-selling Five Hundred model the Taurus, a name Ford previously had used for a car that became the nation's top-seller, two company officials said Tuesday.
The officials spoke to The Associated Press on the condition they not be identified by name because the official announcement had not yet been made. The announcement is expected to be made Wednesday at the Chicago Auto Show.

here's a thought- build a car that will last(like we know that they are capable of doing)and you can call it a pile of manure, and it will sell!!

quality has improved greatly with US auto brands - but the "image" damage was done by cars like the tempo and etc etc

even chevy - their trying to compete in the econobox secter damaged them

(chevette)

dunno - The wife has a 2007 Hyundai sante fe - we love it....

my 2004 ford f150 is bare bones but reliable and simple.

we looked at the ford 500 (taurus) and for the money it lacked a lot of features and style...

then you worry about the reputation of its lineage...

*eeek*

it's pretty bad when a korean company like hyundai seems to have more ambition to make new and better cars progressively each year than our big three

As a car hauler going thru the auction lot looking for your cars this change from 500 back to Taurus is confusing. When you think Taurus you do not look for a 500 body style.

On the subject of Hyundai I recently hauled one that had all the look and feel of a Lincoln. Both inside and out, I was impressed to say the least. The underdog foreign cars have come a long way in the last couple yrs.

FORD

Found On Road Dead

Fix Or Repair Daily

I'd never buy a North American designed car.
