My favorite, if body style is of any relevance here, is the '67-72 Chevy.

Dodge

I vote DODGE!!! I love my 99 Dodge 2500 pick up, it pulls our 38 ft 5th wheel awesome, as well as our stock trailer. We did have a tranny rebuild a couple years ago, the tranny shop informed us that there is one part in there that tends to get weak, we had that upgraded and have had no problems since.

We also have a 92, 3500 dodge pick up, it is still running strong with the original motor in it. The bed has been modified to be a mobile slaughtering truck.

I still prefer Dodges, the 2 chevy's I owned were not nearly as reliable. The diesel chevy had a terrible fuel system, not even the dealer was able to diagnose that darn thing. It was the fuel injection pump, but was in the dealer 4 times before they could figure that out, then the replacement was extremely expensive. I ended up replacing the entire fuel system before that truck was right. The gas motor chevy I had started having problem after problem, mostly minor stuff, but a constant repair issue, and not reliable.
If my experiences with the chevy's had been better, my opinion may be different, who knows.
So, if I can help it, I will only own Dodge trucks from here on out. That Cummins motor can not be beat in my opinion.

This is a cool thread, its interesting how much opinions vary on pick up makes.

I vote FORD!! I have a 75 F-100 that I put a new 351W creat motor a 5 speed from a newer F-150 and a Ford 9" rear end. With 360hp and 400ft lbs of tourque under the hood I've beat many newer trucks on the drag strip. It also pulls a travel trailer better than my father-in-law chevy 1500 with a 350. Plus having 2 gas tanks(20 gal front 38 gal rear) helps space stops out.

My truck is the best one I've owned. smooth ride, plenty power, with helper air springs very good load handling, and good handling.
