Like the Mustang in AU - way overpriced for what it is ,and a dismal failure. The Charger not available in AU as yet that I can see, but a 300 is priced at over $53000. And then the Mazda RX-8, Rotary engine, 18.6 mpg - still renown for its ability to send your wallet heading towards empty and priced at $48 - $53,000

The Commodore/G8 - about the same as the others - evenly matched.
You almost had me believing that GM makes reliable vechiles, almost.

Hm, that is not a bad looking car at all! I would NEVER buy another new one due to the depreciation and payments, but that one I would look at real hard IF I had the cash, LOL.

If I had the means to buy one, the first thing I would do would be to drop the Pontiac nose, import the Australian HSV {Holden Special Vehicles} nose and body kit and that would make it a unique machine on US roads or a Lean Mean Heavy Metal Thunder from Downunder Street Machine!

But my real dream is to have a Phase 3 351 Ford Falcon GTHO with Police Kit - Phase 4 - black, black steel rims, 4 door Sedan - my brother used to drive one when he was in the Police in NSW - unfortunately de-tuned when sold to the public as are all pursuit vehicles there

i generally like it, but two things come to mind:

1) i think it is rather lop-sided that the other gm divisions don't have their own version of this car---i.e., lumina/malibu/monte carlo/regal etc. could share this platform.

2) If i were in the market for a new car like this, i think i would sooner buy a grandprix gxp and have something almost as fast but $10,000 cheaper. Yes, i understand that the GP is FWD which i don't like, but to save 10K, i'll take it.

Now if Ford would take a hint and bring forth the Falcon...

As for the price, yeah, when GM comes out with something hot, they always overprice it. Then no one will buy, and out comes the big discount... Why don't they price it right in the first place and sell a bundle? Who knows. The Japanese has been practicing that (right pricing) for years, very successfully, it seems, and yet the big 3 never learns...
