Got the Barrett-Jackson on speed this weekend, car lovers dream land, super nice stuff. Some of the prices just blow me away though.

Almost seems unreal, most of those rides are fresh restorations, but still thats alot of money to lay down on a toy. I remember when the "gas crisis" hit in the 80's you could pick up a nice ride like this for under two grand, nobody wanted these gas hogs.

That's the thing; Everyone feels that a "dream car" has to be a megabuck/exotic machine. But to me a dream car is one that is dependable/reliable and easy/cheap to fix. i just like the looks of the chevette but they were very rugged and easy to fix. Plus, they are easy to convert to v-8 power.

Every car i listed including the mercedes i can fix anything and everything myself (the exceptions are the newer blazers, 4thcamaros and 5thgen monte carlos---too many electronics). i don't have to bring them to the dealer---which, these days, in and of itself, is becoming a nightmare.

Here are some more of my favorites which i forgot to list:
Note they are in order of preference, hence my numbering system:
7.5) 73-77 chevelle
7.6) 68-80 nova (with preference going to the 75-80s)

i feel that if one is going to buy a car, one should also maintain it by oneself and not depend on anyone else to repair it-----i.e., dealer, independent shop etc.
Any other way is irresponsible.

I love those Bufords too. Sold a super nice 87 about two years ago, 71k miles but really clean. Still have my 86 T-type. They're identical in every way except you had a choice of colors and they are more rare than a GN. I have owned some really quick cars but after some mods the T is just plain nasty. Enjoy a picture if I may. The engine shot was taken just after rebuild and right before installing.

Uncle Buck reputation is Neither Here Nor There
The only one on this list I would consider to be my "dream car" is the 288 GTO. The rest of the cars listed would make up my "dream garage".

1985 Ferrari 288 GTO
1008 Rolls Royce Phantom
1995 Rolls Royce Corniche Convertible
1962 Ferrari 250 GTO
1965 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud III
1969 Dodge Charger (in any color but orange)
1971 Hemi Cuda
1992 Ferrari F40
1996 Dodge Viper GTS
1979 Lincoln Continental Collector's Series
