Hardly a reason to never buy another Ford though in my opinion.
6.4 is a reason now. Not very good performance and fuel mileage. Alot of problems with the motor.

I don't know why Ford quit making the 7.3. Why quit making something that is performing and selling well???

7.3 was the best. I think the EPA got to them and it was going to be tough to meet the new standards. I don't see how they could not have tried with it. The 6.0 and the 6.4 will lead to the downfall of the Ford truck. Trucks are good, but without motors they are junk.

I forgot about the EPA changing regulations. Dunno how I managed to let that happen.

Ford has a sad history of changing engines and losing some customers as a result. The 5.0 Mustang rings a bell.

Yes the fuel mileage is absolute crap. With the way diesel prices are, I would not own one until that was fixed. My understanding however is that the mileage comes up when once the motor begins to break in??

I've driven two of them, and I can defenitely say the power/performance was there. And I'd defenitely say it has more power than the cummins. Not much though.

Sad to see all these manufacturers struggling to meet these new standards. Ford isn't alone in the troubles.

I have heard the mileage goes up, but I know some people with 50,000 on them and it never changed.

Man that's horrible! As if the diesel prices aren't ridiculous enough, how do they expect us to use these trucks?
