| Hino quits building trucks in Golden State Hino quits building trucks in Golden State LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Hino Motors is blaming the weak U.S. economy for its decision this past weekend to halt the assembly of trucks in California and shift production to its other U.S. plant in West Virginia. The Toyota subsidiary will build its last medium-duty truck in the Golden State in July. The company has another North American plant -- in Woodstock, Ont., which it opened in 2006. Annualized net orders for class 5 to 7 trucks, declined over 50 percent in the first quarter this year from 2007. Hino sold about 7,000 trucks in the U.S. and Canada last year. The truckmaker has a solid share of the class 5 and 6 markets in Canada, especially in Quebec. http://www.todaystrucking.com/news.c...TOKEN=82132362 |
