My VW Jetta TDI gets 40 to 42 in mixed driving...and it's a auto. Best I ever got was 50 on the Kansas Turnpike.

My 07 Caliber gets 25 in the city and 30 on the highway for mileage. My combined is 27-28 pending on driving habits. I love its space and room. I once carried over 600lbs of pizza dough for my former job and still got a respectable 30mpg highway.

It's a good thing the AC works great or that dough would have filled that car if it had a few hours in the hot sun.

My wife bought a low mileage 2007 Nissan Versa for $12,000 a little over a month ago . She's managed a little better than 39 m.p.g. , mostly on rural KY roads keeping her rpm under 2,000 . She has the 6 speed manual . The Versa really is surprisingly roomy and comfortable for its size .
