Yes , but it means using U.S. plants to build more Dodges and Dodge Ram owners will no longer have Tundra owners saying the "made in U.S.A. " Tundra is not an import like the "made in Mexico " Ram . But the Mexico plant is the only one making Megacabs , the Dodge 4500/5500 , and Sterling Bullet .

If that spin helps you sleep at night. I'm all for it.

That particular deal was made to help Chrysler out at Chryslers request, not the other way around.

And with the current trending away from the SUV type trucks. How long will it last, before Chrysler pulls back on relocating the other truck lines back to the US? Because Nissan drops the Titan line altogether.

Quote:
According to Monday's announcement, "Chrysler will manufacture a full-size pickup for Nissan" at its Saltillo, Mexico, assembly plant, with sales starting in 2011. That means Chrysler will build the 2012 Titan, on the Ram's platform, and the Titan Armada, if Nissan chooses to keep that large SUV in production, in Saltillo. LaSorda says the Titan won't literally be on the Ram's platform, as its design has been adapted for the Nissan. The unanswered question is, with whose engines? Chrysler will shift volume from Mexico to U.S.-based assembly plants to make room for the Nissan truck.
It may be done on paper. But that cake hasn't had the icing spread yet.

I want a new/used 4x4. But I'll just be damn if I'm going to pay the prices they ask for them...around here.

A 10 year old Z-71 brings 10-16K depending on the wear and tear. If it has a 2 in front of the number.... it will demand 15-25k.

I'll have to look around in FL, Where I can get one for about 6k

I just wish I could find a nice Jeep for about 10k

Those prices are herendous to say the least!! You are right to find a better deal, unless they have solid gold trim or something like that on them!! ????

It's the market. Just like Lexus and BMW in many markets. Trucks (especially 4x4's) are in very high demand in this area. I can generally save 50% on used, by going out of state. FL is my best market to buy from.

Case in point. My oldest (daughter) wanted a crew cab Z-71 for graduation. My youngest (daughter) wanted a 4x4 Xterra. The middle child (boy) wanted and got a used 280Z.

The girls, settled for 2 wheel drive. Namely because I knew what they intended to do with a 4x4. And I'm not replacing engines/transmissions/rear ends every year.

Crew cabs double as the family sedan here. Come deer season, they'll have AT's or mudders in place of the street tires.

And the family van will do the leg work during the winter.
