As far as the domestic job loss... very, very sad indeed. I wish that these folks had more warning or protection from their job loss. These plants form the anchor of many communities, and their loss can be catastrophic.

Who Killed the Electric Car

Their is a great documentary that runs late nights on Stars called "who killed the electric car" All about GM and how they made the first electric car that really worked called the EV1 on a Saturn frame. But then decided the profit wasnt quite the same so then they refused to lease any more of them and then to sell any of them. They then took all that they had made gathered them up and had them crushed..... OH and this was all done with our tax payers dollars. But the funny part was the Japan car companies were so afraid of what they had made they went out on their own dime and made the Pius. and other hybrid cars which are now destroying GM, Ford, and Chrysler. ........

i'd like to be a jerk and point out that this picture is of a Ford Explorer ... maybe an Expedition which is NOT A GM VEHICLE. In fact, Ford dumped its monster Excursion in 2004 way ahead of the times. They also brought in the first US-Manufactured Hybrid SUV (the Ford Escape Hybrid).

my wife and i looked at a hummer h3 ... w/ the 5 cylinder ... know what we couldn't get past? it's the same lame-o underpowered engine from the chevy colorado/gmc canyon. of course they have the new hummer h3 alpha ... which is supposed to have a much more powerful v8. the h2 is a yuppy assault vehicle without ANY practicality and the h1 ... well the h1 is sweet but WHY would you need one?

To be perfectly honest with you, my Canyon, had better pick up, than my Silverado does!! Most people tell me, that it is because it is only a 4.8, but I have spoke to people who have driven the larger engine types in it, and found the same problem?? The only thing I can think of is gas efficiency ? Mine, gets 1 less than the average mini van, I get 19 highway and 14 city, really not bad for an 8!! But no #####. I talked to a friend of mine yesterday, that has an expedition, 13 miles per gallon, I was like whoo, thats bad!! Needless to say a small car took its place.

American only truck crazy girl, cause nothing else will do!!!!!!

There’s more bad news today on the economic front for workers at AM General.
Eighty people will be losing their jobs at the Hummer plant in Mishawaka.
AM General goes to “great pains” to move workers from one position to another when reductions are made, but this time it couldn’t be done.
AM General announced earlier that it would be cutting production from 52 Hummers a day to 32, but cuts by General Motors pushed that number even lower.
Workers involved have all been told they are losing their jobs.
The layoffs will start next week and continue into September.
