What if you have a large family? Isn't better to have one big vehicle instead driving two little ones?
Wow I wonder if they made it home safetly with all of that?? He He That is realy funny!!! I remember when I had a car, if I had to buy molding strips or something long like that, I would have them dangerously hanging out of the back window, praying they would not snap!!

Believe it or not,but that picture doesnt even tell the whole story! I used to have the whole article, from what I remember the guy also had some thing like 10- 80lb. bags of concrete in the back. The load was so heavy that the rear springs had broken through the car! I never saw anything quite THAT bad when I worked at Home Depot, but it was still amazing what people would want to try!

I range anywhere from 18-21 mpg with 19 mpg being average town/interstate driving.... in my 08 Jeep Wrangler 2dr 4x4 v6.......... with 33 inch mt tires, a 2.5 inch lift, full hd skid plates and a winch/steel bumper. I think that is is pretty darn good and I can go anywhere

I agree with mars though, I would LOVE if it were a diesel.

The first thing I bought after getting my pickup was ratchet straps. On my way out of the Lowe's parking lat when buying the straps I saw a mini-van lose its load of drywall because they tried to tie it on with twine. For a few bucks more they could have saved their load...

They would've had to make two trips without a truck, thus being no better in fuel usage than one trip in a truck.

I drive a 98 corolla and throw it in 5th the second i get a chance to. It makes good mileage but I like trucks a little more.

if you're looking to have truck size and truck room without a full bed, the ford explorer sport trac is the way to go. sure, it's got a 4' bed ... but unless you're hauling plywood you don't need a full 8' bed ... that's what our sweet 83 dodge 2500 with the air bags & full floating rear end is for. by the way ... with a 3" flowmaster not only does it sound sweet but pulls down a good 16mpg without a load. the explorer pickup averages around 19-20 (got the stick shift) which is just as good as most sedans but it still a truck.

I've just had an appifiny. I have been racking my brain over what type of vehicle to buy once I get back stateside. Gas prices be d***ed, I was happy a can be when I had my big ### Yukon lifted on 33's. I loved the sound of the 5.7l gas hog growling at all the little CA commuter tin cans! I traded it in for a small hatch when I heard I was shipping out to Europe, I regret it So when I get back I'm getting a big ### truck again. I'll work an extra job 1-2 nights a week to gas it up if I have to

There are enough other worries in life, why let the price of gas and fuel economy be one of them.

I've got a regular cab, 2wd pickup, with a v-6 and 5 speed. I average about 16.97 mpg. I've got friends with v-8's that get 19, 21, 23 mpg, and up. Those are average mpg's. One of them went on vacation, and got almost 29.
Dang it! Another thought is, I want a vehicle with at least a 5,000 pound tow capacity. Most smaller vehicles, or vehicles with better mpg don't seem to get it. My brother recently bought an suv, because they told him it had a 5,000 pound tow capacity. After he signed the paperwork, they said, "oh yeah, to get that tow capacity, you have to get this, and do that." Forget that!
As for now, I'll keep driving my 2000 p/u. But, I know one of these days, I may want a new one.
And, I'LL GET IT.
