I've got an old Chevy 2500 pickup that I use to drive back and forth to the yard. Bought it for $800 3 years ago. That is 4 miles a day. I use it for when I have to go get something for the house or whatever.

So far I have put 6,500 miles on it in the 3 years I have owned it. It doesn't really cost me much. I guess about $750 a year for gas, and $500 for insurance and tags.

The rest of the time I drive my minivan.

Really it seems like the cheapest way to have the best of both worlds.

Two fridays ago I got out of work to help with my step-sis wedding and to my surprise, my assignment was to drive my dads Dodge Ram 1500 with the V6 to haul ice to the wedding from publix. In two hours the needle from 3/4 to 1/2 but the best part was getting out of my four door sedan and drive something decent for a change.

My next truck will be a dodge 2500 diesel that gets 20 in the city and maybe more with the chip you can install. Sure it will be expensive but in the end if my math is right, both will cost the same to fill up.

I have a Dodge Ram 1500, I can't get better than 15 mpg. eventually I might get a cheap little fuel efficient car, because up where I live even to just go to the grocery store is 15 miles away. I burn almost 1/4 tank of fuel going to town and back. I would probably have to keep the truck, just because it is handy.

I have a 2007 GMC Sierra 5.3L 4x4 and can get 20+ mpg if I drive 70mph or less...

I use my truck a lot and I cannot get by using a car. Tell me how can I fit 1 big rig tires into a car much less 8 of them...
