I Drove a Prius Today

Had it as a rental while the wife got a front quarter panel replaced courtesy of the other guys insurance.

I have to say the technology is something else. Cruising into the city at 52 mph, and the mpg monitor said 65 mpg.

stop at a stoplight and the engine shuts off, doesn't use gas until about 25 mph.

Seemed to have plenty of power for a small car, found myself going 80 without noticing.

highest mpg was 99.9 mpg.

Be curious to see how much replacing the electric parts would cost when they wear out.

to add to that,
How much environmental damage is done to produce the batteries that these vehicles rely on?
True electric cars only shift the source of emissions to a powerplant.

I also wonder how much these electrical componets cost to own and how great theri service life is?

Prius versus Honda Civic Hyrid versus Ford Escape Hybrid

Ok if you are looking for value their are only 3 to buy in all honesty

The Prius is by far the best and roomiest for a 4 seater. The Honda Civic claims 5 but you better be small people and no child seats. My wife and I tried to put 3 booster seats in the back and they wouldnt fit. We chose the Ford Escape Hybrid you can get 3 booster seats in the back in a row barely.... and it gets 34/35 which for a 5 seater is awsome. Try and find any other 5 seater passenger car or Suv that gets 34 city I dare you.
