A 1964 Ford Galaxy 500 with a 390. I remember standing on my knees coloring in the rear window self. We used to go to Marshall Texas every Friday so my dad could play 42 with some friends. I remember once looking at the speedometer and my mom was driving 80mph! That was back before the speed limit went down to 55 and there was no seat belt law. Talk about safe!

1958 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner

This is the first car I remember my Parents having, it was totaled by my by brother of course trying to impress whom is now wife.

The 1958 Ford design called upon the new Thunderbird
for styling ideas like a dummy hood scoop,
trapezoidal grille opening, and oblong taillight clusters.
Overall, design cues for the 1958 Skyliner appear to have been inspired by the shape created for the new four-seat Thunderbird. Hood, decklid, bumpers, side trim, and taillight clusters were new.
300-horsepower engine, a normally aspirated unit of 352 cid that sat atop a new line of "FE" V-8s. A new Cruise-O-Matic three-speed autobox was the alternative to manual transmissions and the simpler Fordomatic.

Another hot item in the industry for 1958 was air suspension. So it ended up being a one-year wonder. Not as many people as expected bought 1858 Fords. In hindsight, some have suggested that styling hurt sales, but a nationwide economic downturn was the prime culprit.
The Skyliner suffered a substantial decline in demand. a mere 14,713 - -were built in 1958. It couldn't have helped that the starting price ballooned to $3,163.

Papa's truck.

First I really remember of moms was a 79 ltd 2 brougham ford 4 door.

Grandpa's work truck is a 64 ford custom short bed, 3-tree, straight 6. He bought new for $1660.00 (original receipt still in glove box), with;
-drivers side arm rest
-fresh air heat
-painted bumper
-3 speed trans.
Still runs great, take my daughter for rides in it.

I inherited, 2nd owner- daughter calls it "Papa's tuck." It was always around. Want it to stay in the family.
He and grandma were married 64 years tell he passed. He was 18 she was 17? when they married. He was a good, hard working man, they both were good people.
Like to restore it and give to my daughter.
Believe it's all original except the rear bumper. Some guy rear ended him and he couldn't find the original bumper?
Learned to drive stick in it.
Still remember hauling shingles off from roofing houses with him.

Figure if I don't keep it original (which I praobly won't, so it will be easier for my daughter/wife to drive), it'll proably look something like this;

It is fun to drive and the style is really growing on me. Love the look of the fixed up one in the bottom pic.

and the fence my wife and I built for half the estimated price in 2 days while i was off the road to keep the little one and the dobie in.
my wife's a tuff ##### when she wants to be....

That '58 retractable hardtop broght back some memories.

I was 10, Dad had a '53 Ford sedan and was shopping the '57 Ford hardtop convertible. That was the first year it came out-really nifty for a metal top to go down inside the trunk, they're all doing it now. There was a red and white one at Yocum Ford like the '58 in the picture that I really wanted him to get.

But it was near the end of the 1957 model year and Dad said why don't we wait and see what the '58's look like. When they came out they were U-G-L-Y but all the '57's were gone. So Dad got a '58 Country Squire station wagon, black, with that same 352 cid V-8. I can remember that everything rattled in the back and on the engine it said "THUNDERBIRD."

The '58 station wagon had even uglier taillights than the sedans especially with that fake Country Squire wood treatment. Dad didn't like the looks either and he took the horizontal bar out of the grille to make it look more like the '57 Thunderbird. But he couldn't get that vertical post with the round emblem off the grille so he left it there like a buck tooth.

The Thunderbird had gone to four passenger and the very next year Dad traded that '58 wagon off for a '59 Thunderbird. Oh it had the same 352 300 HP V-8 - but the valve covers said "FORD".
