My first cars were given to me when I was 5-6 yrs old by my Uncle John who owned a junkyard. He put 3 1957 Fords and a 1955 Packard in th corner of the junkyard for me to play in,told his employees to watch out for me and I dont remember him even selling any parts off of them. When I was around 12 he converted to a scrap metal business.Over the years I`ve probably had close to 100 vehicles. The first one that actually ran was a 1954 morris minor for $175 in 1971,then another $25 for a paint job.

1951 Chevrolet..........bought it.

Next car: 1965 Pontiac Tempest Le Mans Grand Tourisimo Omolagato (GTO)....I still have it with the stock 389 (I have both manifolds.......dual quad & tri-power because the linkage on the tri-power was ####). I also have a 421 for it that was built by Farmer Arnie Beswick from Morrison, IL. He's credited in some magazines as having built the first funny car in the world.

my parents got me my first car, 96 ford explorer, i called her the black beauty, had 99k on the odometer, and i thought that it was awesome they were buying me my first car, i felt really lucky, they even offered to pay the insurence on it, and hell for a long time even put fuel in it for me all the time, they allowed me to do as i pleased with it...for the first 6 months, and then it was " i need you to run here, run there, when done there do this for me, and when you done with that call me cause i need you to pick something up for me " this was just about every single day, between classes, between jobs, i lost a few friends when i was not available to take them someplace, but later found out they were being friends with me just cause i had a " ride "
my parents have a few vacation homes, ranging from 50 miles away to 375 miles away from home, and they always asked me to run to the houses and check on them, and get the mail, and plow the drive way, and cut the lawn, and rake the leaves, and make sure the pipes didnt freez in the winter time, make sure no critters made a new home in thier homes.
they asked me to help them help others out with moving, and runin around for the grandparents, and after i thought long and hard about what the hell i was doing, i realized they bought the car for ME so they did not have to keep taking off of work to doo all of the above, and i didnt mind doing it cause hell after all its their car, not mine,
and now that i think about it, my parents sound very much like a dispacther
that car has since been pased on down to my sister for school, i think its got right around 255,000 miles on it, and still cranks right over every time.

My first car was a '68 Chevelle SS396 that I bought in 1974 with my own money from mowing lawns and cleaning swimming pools. I paid $1,800 for it and it had 35,000 miles on it. I kick myself in the ### for selling that car. I had it until 1977, when I bought my first of many 4wd trucks...a brand new 1978 Ford F150 shortbed. Red w/black interior, quad shocks in the front, sliding rear window...sweet truck. I had just started working at GM making the big bucks.

My first car was a 1967 Ford Galaxy 500 convertible. Bought it in 1973 for $500, and was ripped off at that price. It spent 8 weeks in the shop getting ready for a safety (long story, and I won't bore you with it). While waiting for IT to come out of the shop, I bought a 1966 Chev BelAire sedan for $600. Probably the solidest car I've ever owned.....body like a tank, and the interior was bigger than a Checker Cab.

1966, (13 y.o.) I started helping my grandfather in his electrical business. Year or two later, I found out that Gramps had been withholding a little out of each paycheck, when him and dad came home with the MOST UGLY 1963 4 door FIRE ENGINE RED Ford Falcon, purchased from a family friend. 170 C.I. six, three on the tree. Not a girl catcher by any means!! I could not destroy that car; (believe me, I tried!). Sometime later, I began working weekends and holidays on drilling rigs. (BIG $$$$$ for a school kid!) Dad was the #2 man in the company, and as long as I kept my grades up, it was OK. Didn't take long for me to unload that car and get a 1966 Ford Fairlane XL- NOW we're talking!!!!
