Bought a 1962 Chevy Impala just before I turned 16. Purchase price was $195. plus tax at CATFISH AUTO SALES.
My life savings was $175. from odd jobs. My did kicked in the rest. He helped me buy parts, but I had to learn to do all the work myself. That has paid off my entire life.

My uncle was going to buy a car from the company he worked for that was going to be returned. He offered his car to my mother for less then what it was worth. My mother decided she would have been better off if she would have had some help when she was younger so she bought the car. My uncle let her make payments on it. In the end I took over the payments and paid almost half of the car.

When I was 15 I bought my brother's 55 Chev, when he shipped over seas. Could not legally drive it until I got my license at 16 though.

I've worked since I was 12 years old. Never had anybody buy a car or truck for me, or pay license, insurance, maintenance or gas.

very interesting thread.... My first car was a 99 Acura Integra special edition.my parents bought it for me at the age of 15 because i worked all summer long for my dads landscaping company. This car has been my pride and joy after spending almost every dollar i made into it. The car now has 530 wheel hp i never plan to sell it it has more sentimental value than anything else the car only gets driven very little and only in the summer time. God i love my parents.

HAHA, mine was a Pinto wagon and it only had 3 cylinders and I lived in West Virginia at the time...would have to downshift like a big rig going up those hills due to NO power, LOL. I was so embarrassed. But, for $300 and rest was in excellent shape, I thought it better than nothing!
