There,s alot of Pontiacs I like, but to pick the hottest car of any make. I would say my uncles 74 455 TA dark blue almost black. In 1974 I was a 7 year old farm boy my uncle pulled into the yard with the TA,he bought it used 3,000 miles on it, alu. slots all the way around with 50,s on the back. He bought and sold cool cars including alot of corvetts, but no car ever impressed me like that TA. He always would give me a ride, and I was super excited to ride in the TA. On a open straight country road he let me steer and he mashed on it, he brought it up to 110mph, he didn,t want to hurt the new motor. I wanted to burry the 160mph needle, but what a car it had an awesome feel to it. And yeah I had to keep it a secret that he let me drive. haha In my opinion the 74 to 78 TA,s have it all Looks, best dash, interior, what you see when you drive TA,s the dash and the hood is like no other car.

I had a 76 formula firebird (last year for the round headlights) w/dual ram air, 400, auto tranny (yes it should of been a standard) bright screaming red. Loved the car. As everyone else here says I wish I still had it.

I still love the 1970-1973 Firebird.
It is my favorite style they ever did.
I liked the 74-81s, but the engines were so weak they just were not worth my time without serious work.
Grab a 70-72 and you can get really good power for a good price. Only problem with them was weight on the front, since they all used the same block.
Mine was a 1971 Formula 350 at the start of its life. When I sold it, it still had the badging for that. But I had a 1972 455ho in it, built to the hilt.
Was a great car for a teenager. I think all teens should have to save up, buy, and build there own cars. Maybe they would respect them a little more.
Wait....wrong place for that argument lol

Last time I drove my 76 Grand Prix was in 79. I was going sideways over a 100 in a
45 zone. The T/A is sportier but there is a lot to be said for having a back seat big enough to camp out in.

Front/rear weight ratio was easily solved if you could do a little welding. Just move the engine/tranny rearward one and one half inch. Then take 1-1/2 inch box tube and hook front and rear frames together. Add three cross members bent so as not to rub drive shaft in between them. Fab up a sheet metal extention for fan shroud. Voila, you are "hooked-up". Add some traction bars to the rear, go have fun. If you wanted to run curvy road courses, beware. An inch and a half was a bit much. Start at 3/4 inch, then try it. At a full inch and a half they could tend to push the front tires straight ahead under heavy throtle in a turn. Not a happy situation, as when you let off, if you let off too much, the rear would snap around and pass you. Cheers.
