Motorcycle Looking for a Yamaha R1 and have some questions

One of my goals before I return home is to purchase a 2006 R1 LE. However, I am facing several challenges. First, I have been out of the sport bike game for a long damn time. The second is I am trying to find one from over here in Iraq. So I have to go by what the advertisement dictates. One big problem I am running into is most of these sellers have no idea what they have. Some advertise their R1 as a limited edition when it is an anniversary edition and some advertise it as an anniversary edition when it is a limited edition. It gets me so frustrated that I stop looking for a while. Anyhoo, my question is when I am looking at these ads, what are some obvious tell tell signs I am looking at a true limited edition 2006 model? I want one of the 500 LE models made, not one of the anniversary models. They are very similar in appearance.

.....In stock configuration.

The rim design/color.

The LE will have have the gold colored Marchesini wheels.

Spoke layout will be noticably differant even if the color matches. 5 spokes for the Anniversary edition.

How long have you been out of the sportbike game? The R1 is a serious bike. No one wants to see another MC rider get hurt.

What? Have they Incorporated something new? Like a steering wheel?

You are correct though, it is a serious bike. Most MC riders that promptly get hurt on bikes like the R1, are riders who have never ridden anything but low powered factory model street bikes.

I can't speak for Lonesome. But I've never ridden a "stock" bike, in any form. Well, that's not completely true. I've ridden one long enough to need a nap.

The reason I asked how long he had been out of the sportbike game was because I had been. I had a FZR 600 back in the mid-late 80's and I just bought a new sportbike. The differences are incredible. I have had a few cruisers since the 80's but the sportbikes have gone through alot of changes since then.

True true true. I love the new ones, I just can't spend a sustained amount of time on them due to my wrist.

2009 R1 cranks about 180 bhp (European figures). Something unheard of not long ago.

Here's an actual Dyno test

I have not been out quite that long, but I do see your point.

Man, I would love to take it around the speedway when i get home. That is about the only place I would open it up.

I have an 09' R6S and compared to my original FZR, the power feels like it 2x what it was. There are some desolate roads once you get out of Salt Lake that I have opened it up. It's not quite the R6 race bike but it gets up and moves.
