Well I'm not quite a kid anymore but at onetime I had a suzuki sport bike that would run 186 but I only did that once.

I had a friend that had a 79 Olds 4 door with a 350 rocket engine. That thing would do more than 145mph, I rode with him at that speed and it had power left. Got there quick too. I know my 3 ton caddy will do 135 at about 3/4 pedal. I had to do it one time just to see the look on the kid's face with the shiny new cougar sport when he hit his limiter and I kept on going. I don't need the new stuff, the old engines were plenty powerful.

Since we're talking sport bikes...this made the local paper and evening news back in 1990 (IIRC)

Some kid on an FJ1200 outran (outmaneuvered) about 15 different cops on I81 in TN, they just could not hang with him once he hit the backroads which he knew like the back of his hand. He was quite an accomplished rider in full gear that had some experience on the drag strip...NOS on the bike and just crazy enough to use it. No tag on the bike...it was after all a racing bike.

He was clocked at 188 and still gaining speed pretty fast...then he was GONE. They never knew for sure who that kid was...but he did get a visit from a local cop that knew him and his bad habits.

I wonder sometimes how I survived my younger years....mostly luck, I think.

Like a good co will hire someone with a ticket 15 mph over the posted speed limit? I kind of think tagged at 150 mph is a little excessive..
