Hi, I am a independent contractor and am interested in becoming a car hauler with my own authority. I have my own truck, and am thinking abot purchasing a car carrier trailer. How do you guys get loads? Contracts with dealerships? Or load boards? Thanks to all who respond.

volvo1026 Thanks this. -
be careful where you get your loads from
-
some pay real good, others tell you they will pay this price but actually takes a cut off the top as a discount
-
If you broker loads from united road they take like 10 % pwer vehicle
if you choose to be paid by Comcheck for a brokered load -
Thru central dispatch or uship
-
i can give you more info. call me 786-463-5576

I use CentralDispatch and Uship as well. I have beat the pavement and handed out business cards, However no one has responded through these. Some of the dealerships that we've done loads via brokers have called us back wanting some one on one business. Seems to me the dealerships are only interested in working with you after they've seen your work.

Prowl around the auctions. Adesea, Manheim, etc. Park there with your truck and stand right beside it. Have some cheap, photocopied rate sheet 'EXAMPLES ONLY' to hand out. Just an idea. Has worked before.
