Planning a Load of Pickups, need advice.

Sounds about right, would depend on length, and weight. Diesels weight more, so cost more to ship. Depending on transporters equipment, 7 would be the absolute max for a load.

 

You must remember, empty weight on a 10 car is rather high, only guessing, but around 38 to 40k. I run a 4 car, and with my old truck, my empty weight was 32,600. Add the extra steel, hyd cylinders, hoses and hyd oil, plus the headrack on the truck itself, and empty weight is way up. A lot is how to distribute the weight evenly. Hope you find someone that can haul enough for you to make a profit.

 

That's probably pretty close to being the going rate to get them moved. Watch though, someone will quote you $500-600, but it will take 6 months to get them moved if they even show up.

 

6 max. 2 on the tractor, 4 on the trailer. Depending on who you use and what equipment they have. You won't get 7 4x4s on. Are any of these p/u's dual rear wheel?

 

Going rate, on average is between 60 and 70 cpm per unit. Depending on how far, 5 rigs will run about $3.50 per mile for your 5 rigs. That price doesn't included what the broker will charge, which could be as high as 25 to 50% over the 3.50 per mile. Watch which brokers you call, and get more than 1 bid.

 

Most of the over the road guys with sleepers would be closer to the 42-45,000 pound range empty. Not sure what the day cabs like Cassens or Cooper run empty, but day cabs(nor Cassens/Cooper) do NOT do these sort of moves.*typically*
The only reason I am mentioning this is I know at some point someone will try to subtract 80,000 - 38,000 swearing they can cram more vehicles on. Not saying the original poster, but may be someone in general reading the thread. Brokers read these forums as well & generally have zero car hauling experience.

To get an idea of how much room is available vs how much room pick ups take on a stinger, here is an idea...

 

LBZ,Thanks for the info, I was guessing on the empty weight, going off my 4 car weight. Guess I underestimated! I'm sure the brand of trailer and headrack makes a difference in empty weight as well. Thanks again.
