Hey guys!
First post here as I have always read, laughed and did research but never did ask any questions. I'll start off by saying I did get a job offer from URS and would be running out of their Marysville Ohio terminal. Before I could tell them yes or no I wanted to get some different opinions on what you guys think.
I have been with one company that paid for my cdl training, on a dedicated route, home every other night and home for 34 hr restar, drop and hook, and gross 900 bucks for the week.
My thing is I'm young and before I received my CDL I transported cars on flatbed trailers and work for a towing out fit and liked the work. The company I'm currently at on goes up about 5 cents more a mile and then im maxed out (37 cents) I know I'll prolly never make over 60k a year even if I ran my ### off. It seems like the auto haulers make decent money from what I have read and that URS is a middle of the road company. My question is.....
What would you do?
Is it worth it?
Also just out of curiosity does anyone know what URS trucks are governed at?
Good benefits?
What kind of hotels are we aloud to chose from (holiday inn or?)
The recruiter said I would be looking at about 1200 do to learning then it will slowly get better as I get faster..sound right to you?
Thanks in advance!
Is it worth it? URS

If I had family at home, I'd be staying put - for the home time.
If not, and I were younger and better looking, I'd tackle the challenge.
That's worth 3 cents in my opinion. -
No family, just a girlfriend...and talking about looks, well I got plenty lol

Go car hauling but not with URS. If your looking to be based out of Marysville I would go to Cassens.
semi retired semi driver Thanks this. -
Does cassens provide training?
-
Yes they offer company paid training.
TinMan89 Thanks this. -
Ok, I will check them out! I have an interview Thursday at the terminal so I will just see what they have to offer. I'm mainly just trying to get the training out of the way then go to somewhere I can call my home away from home. Im not a job hopper by anymeans so I'm kind of nervous about this whole thing. Is URS is bad enough to where you wouldn't even go for a year to just get your foot in the door of car hauling?
-
I don't know much about URS except that there forced dispatch and low pay. I was offered a job with them to but didn't want to pass this IMO better opportunity up. You'll make money there I'm sure or else people wouldn't work there but knowing what I know now and the difficulty in car hauling I wouldn't do this for what they offer.

Ok, well thanks for your insight! I will go ahead and apply for cassens and see if I can get an interview with them. Worse case i'm stuck at URS getting some experience, then go onto bigger and better things. Once again, thanks!!

Rather than going off of "hearsay" let someone who knows the facts chime in. Sorry to inform you but quite a few of your ex brotherhood drivers work for or are leased to URS.
