As long as you declare all the hours you work as a firefighter and do not go over the 60 in 7 day or 70 in 8 day rules, you are in compliance. However you must take at least 10 hours off after being a firefighter before driving. If you do not go across state lines or go beyond a 100 mile radius, it will be easier to stay compliant.

I don't know wth the first half of this post was,but you may be able
to find a spot doing turns on your days off.
I would worry about getting held up/breakdowns and missing getting
back to old engine number nine on time.

Before you drive anything over 10,000 lbs, you are required to have 10 hours rest. You are paid for the time at the fire station, so it is on duty not driving..
After 14 hours of on duty, 10 hours of rest is required before driving a commerical vehicle. It is real easy to just start after getting off the the fire station, but in case of an accident, the lawyers will find out the truth of how many hours you have worked. In today's world, not worth taking a chance.

Let just make sure we are clear I am a full time fireman the hauling cars would be a side business for me part time if you will.

I don't have to keep a log book for the firetruck if that clears things up too. I really hope this is a miss understanding because if not it is going to crush my dream of doing this

How many hours a week do you work as a fireman? You cannot exceed 70 hours in 8 days total, being a fireman then driving on the road. You probably could exceed it being a fireman, but not driving a commerical vehicle. Or you can use a 7 day 60 hour clock, if you do not work every day of the week. As a fireman, do you work 24 hours a day always ready to go out at the fire station? Then after 4 days, you have 96 hours worked. It takes 34 hours off to reset the clock. This is only until the DOT does a study again, it used to be 34 hours off, but had to include 2 1 - 5 am periods. My advise if you are looking for a part time job, work the dock or hostler in a company, just do not drive on the public highways with a commerical vehicle. Or drive a limo or taxicab. Anything under 10,000 lbs.

But how can one job affect the other

So what if I was a part time truck driver and delivered pizza on the side would the same rule apply?
