Well, good for another two years, I have to be honest, up until this year I never gave a second thought about passing my test, but after years of mostly being in the office, I have gone from a trim 240 to 305, everything was good, BUT, the Doc did tell me there are a lot of rumbling within the DOT going forward, that might give me issues at this size.

I guess it is just time to bite the bullet and start taking better care of myself, just a heads up to others, it happens a lot quicker than you think! I just could not imagine a day when I could not drive because I can't pass a physical, even though I don't get out that much any more still having that Class A in my wallet has always been a point of pride for me.

    Just a friendly reminder, Stan

We all learn the hard way about diet, nutrition and exercise and I know that I would freak out if I gained that much weight in a short period of time.
However, its not necessarily so to gain weight just because you are behind a desk.
I can surmise that you are eating the wrong foods. It's not just about exercise. You have to study and understand nutrition in order to figure out how to stay lean and be at a normal weight.
Those people at the FMCSA are out of control and are on a mission to make our lives as difficult as possible. What with this sleep apnea debacle, what else are they going to come up with.
Many truckers are on meds to fight such things as cholesterol and diabetes, which is a disease that can kill you.
My solution for you IMHO, is to cut out the carbs altogether. That is why obesity and diabetes is also out of control. And its not getting any better.
We as a nation eat waaaaaay to many carbs. Sugar in the old days was nothing more than a condiment to be used sparingly. Now look!!
I know what its like to be fat and gain weight. I used to be a fat kid, but I decided to do something about it. I also know after years of study what it takes to stay healthy.
Its one word.....SUGAR!! And its not easy for me as I love freshly baked bread!!
Keep that substance out of your diet, though as much as possible and you will have a better chance of losing the weight.
I don't just mean sugar, but the vast majority of carbs are the main culprits in weight gain, contrary to what the so called experts will tell you.
I also believe the Govt is complicit in promoting the use of high fructose corn syrup, and that toxic stuff is showing up in a lot of foods.
Unfortunately, sugar is very addictive and is not easy to kick, but it's the best way to lose weight.
    Good luck

Thanks Doc, and I agree totally, the truth is, I really don't eat that badly (or at least I didn't think I did?) I stopped reaching for the salt shaker 10 years ago, VERY seldom do I drink any soda, my iced tea is usually not sweeten, and my hot tea I use honey (originally North East born/bred, what can I say).

I do eat fruits and veggies and like a good salad and try and eat one when ever I can, and I have cut down greatly on the fatty dressings. I seldom eat fast food, and even then it's usually a subway or Arby's sandwich over a bacon cheeseburger, VERY little candy, or dairy.

You're right though, bread/noodles/pasta is my Achilles' Heel, and I do realize it will have to be the next thing to go. This weight gain has been over about 7 years, so figure about 8 pounds a year.
Luckily, I have never smoked or drank, and have normal blood sugar, and never sick, but my Cholesterol is high, last time I checked a couple of years ago 300/15, my grandfather had the same issues, (same size as I am now).

I am fasting on Monday and getting it rechecked so at least I have a STARTING point, other than that, I have been VERY fortunate, even at this weight and all of the years of heavy lifting climbing and jumping on and off trailers, I still have no real aches or pains or any back issues.

But as I said, it is time to do something, as I refuse to buy pants with a waist size over 40!!! LOL

    Hey Stan

There is no doubt that car haul, especially "city work", will keep you in shape. Now that I'm done, and heading back into pin-pin freight trains, I'm REALLY gonna have to watch the middle earth area !!

Here, this is for you, if you don't have 6 minutes, watch the first 2 minutes for sure !!!! G'Luck Ol Buddy.
