Welcome to the forum. Not sure who's hiring in that area, I'm further north now. Sounds like you would be able to cut your teeth with a broker doing coast to coast. Good training and good miles. Who knows. ' Luck

 

Cassens and Hansen and Adkins both are in your area and last I heard were hiring. Plenty of work hauling Nissans right down the street from you.

 

That I can't say for sure I am an owner op and have never worked for someone else. What I can tell you is that the few guys I have spoken to at each company were all happy with their employer.

Maybe try and catch one of these guys at the TA Laverne or ( I think there might be a pilot south of Smyrna) and talk to them yourself see what answers they have for your questions

 

I am NOT starting a union vs non union comment. That is NOT what this is.

But the biggest negative for me with either Cooper or Cassen is after training you have to run slip seat. Which from what I was told was a local truck that runs roughly 2-12 hour or less shifts. You have to live close to the yard or you get to hang in a hotel if (like me) you live far enough away from the assigned rail yard. I am 180 miles south of Chicago & 100 north of St. Louis.

That slip seat gig, at least for a friend in MI when he worked for Cooper constantly changed from running nights & switched to days, back/forth etc.

Had a driver from Cassens ask if I wanted to apply with them last year when we were unloading at the same dealership. He confirmed they do it as well. Have no idea if that lasts for a few months or few years. Have been told both.

This all may work for you personally. But wanted to throw it out there & maybe others who have worked for a union co. can give more detail for the TN area.

 

Hi guys, I don't mean to change the subject but can anybody help find out what my small car trailer is worth. I'm not in the business and just purchased a tractor that the trailer had to go with. Any help would be appreciated.

 

You're better off starting a new thread in this sub forum. DON'T title it 'used - for sale' .....( someone will boot it to the classifieds if you do ), title it 'looking for info' ...... and post pictures and any manufacturing data plate info you can find .... then maybe we can help you a bit better.
