Yes, I realize THIS particular one was only hauling 3, the point is what are everyone here ALWAYS saying?

    "Good luck getting it stopped..."

Ohio man killed in I-65 chain-reaction crash near Rensselaer
    Posted: Mar 25, 2014 11:55 AM CDTUpdated: Mar 25, 2014 2:35 PM CDT

RENSSELAER, Ind. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -All lanes of northbound I-65 in northwest Indiana reopened late Tuesday morning after a chain-reaction crash involving two semi trucks and a large pickup hauling three other vehicles left an Ohio man dead.
Indiana State Police said the accident occurred about 6:20 a.m. on icy northbound I-65 about 5½ miles south of the Rensselaer exit, where traffic was stopped because of an earlier crash.
A 2007 Volvo semi pulling a rail container was stopped in the right lane with a 2003 Kenworth semi pulling an empty trailer stopped behind it when a 2008 Dodge dually pickup pulling a trailer loaded with three vehicles failed to slow down and struck the Kenworth from behind, a statement from ISP said.
The Dodge, owned by Cinci Motor of Maineville, Ohio, was driven by Zaza Eristavi, 41, of Fairfield, Ohio, when it hit the back of the empty trailer, causing the straps securing the cars to the trailer to break, ISP said.
The three vehicles on top "were catapulted off the trailer," with one landing on the trailer and cab of the empty semi; a second vehicle landing on its roof in the grass; and the third landing in the left lane, ISP said.
The trailer being pulled by the Dodge was pushed forward, crushing the pickup between it and the trailer ahead. Eristavi was pronounced dead, according to ISP. The Jasper County Coroner said massive blunt force trauma appeared to be the cause.
The drivers of the other trucks—Mouhamadou Soumare, 51 of Indianapolis; and
James Kirkland, 58 of Toone, Tenn.—were not injured.
All lanes reopend shortly after 11 a.m., but drivers can expect "lengthy delays," according to ISP.

Most of those 3/4 & 1-tons can out-stop a semi. Of course that does no good when you're asleep/texting...

Jesus... Makes you wonder why they don't put a stop to that crap. After all, they regulate everything else in this industry, right down to how long it should take me to piss!

Believe you have completely missed the point & where does it say the driver was texting or sleeping? He could have been drinking a tall glass of Kool aid, but since there was no mention of that, will leave it for speculation. Or maybe it could have been slick roads when traffic came to a halt for another accident? Maybe...

I dont know what other regulations would have prevented that. It looks like driver error to me, maybe going to fast for the icy road conditions and the vehicles obviously werent properly secured.

I wonder about these guys that want to be half truckers, want to haul a couple cars but don't want to get a CDL. Those trucks are just as long, you make less money on three cars then six or seven ( I would guess ), and after driving pickups pulling heavy boat and equipment trailers I know I'd rather be in a semi with air brakes then one of those set ups. I'm also guessing that fifty five thousand dollar dually isn't going to last a quarter of the miles a real truck will. Eventually one of these things will hit a schoolbus or have some other horrible accident that gets national attention and they will get the long foot of the government up there tails. I say, why half ### it, be a real trucker, not a wannabe.

Where to even start..not everyone drives for uship. My Dad pulled a wedge for over ten years after retiring from Preston in 97. Don't think he was a half trucker. He was leased on with a company out of Indiana also. Don't be so quick to judge, remember a person lost his life in a accident. They are called accidents for a reason. Full truckers have them everyday. Everybody has the right to do whatever job they want. Hard to say what happened to this "half-driver", but its sad. Just glad nobody else was killed in the crash. We as professionals shouldn't be so quick to put labels on people or jump on the bashing bandwagon that happens way to often on here. Just remember, could be anybody in that situation on any givin day, not just half truckers....just sayin. And the school bus remark?
