The FCC only controls the airwaves tightly...........if it is on the radio......yes. Everything else the FCC is involved in is less tightly regulated...........

RoadKing 56 and the Astatic 636L.......Both are quality, are noise cancelling and work very well. The Astatic can usually be had for a little less money. I prefer the Astatic.
KC,
I have heard that mic (636L) is the best bang for your buck. What cb do you use or recommend?

Buy the best CB you can afford, preferably a AM/SSB CB. That will be the most efficient.

Plan on spending as much as you can on quality when it comes to your antenna............Best coax, stainless Steel stud, and a good 5/8ths wave antenna.....the longest one that will fit......

I am seriously thinking about buying a bunch of quality antenna stuff and selling it here. The high end stuff only.....maybe after my tax refund comes in......

Oh yeah, the Astatic 636L is a very good mic....equal to the RK-56..........

Re: Whats with the c.b. screamers

Loose the spring and switch to some good coax and it is a decent system.....That coax is garbage...........What kind of truck a 4.5' or 5' antenna may work better if you cn make it fit. 6 or 7' for a T600 Kenworth.

I am going to bed so there will be no answers until morning

Thumbs up

A comment on the roger beep. It was originaly intended for the upper and lower side bands due to the fact that you couldnt tell when the other party released the key on thier mic. It is on my Galaxy 959 but I never use it. Mainly because I dont use side band. Its nice to know its there if the opportunity presents itself though.

I run 9' of of some really good coax that I researched and found online. I use a 5 1/2 ' Wilson silverload antenna (which I wouldnt trade for all the gold in cali.) on a ch600 mack. I get some good range with it and can hear for a good distance. Thanx goes to KCorey for alot of the help provided in the antenna department.

the roger beep

actualy the history of the roger beep goes back to comercial radios. it is still used on the comercial radios alot its actual name is a dtmf tone and it is used to transmit an id or other digital information to a radio with a display so you can identify the caller or the sender of a message. it was put in the radios to make it sound like the dtmf tone so you could tell when the radio was un keyed or you could have it set to do a pre or post transmit id. The motorola radios still use it and you can change the tone by changeing the freq it transmits on. the fire depts and police still use a form of it for there emergency calls by changeing the tone and repetition on the radio you can set it to call different vehicles or stations. But when put on CB radios it became a noise maker and that is all its used for today by the CB industry. Just a little history lesson on the tones of the radio industry.
