Whats with the c.b. screamers

I dont understand why people find the need to scream, yell, or just talk completely like a 10 year old. I mean seriously the cb is a good tool for otr driving, I know it saved me a couple times when traffic was stopped on the I. If I wouldnt of had it on one time in PA I prob woulda had a really close call. Was going down a big hill with a corner at the bottom, heard someone saying traffic was stopped at the bottome of the hill, so I threw on my four ways and started slowin down. Watched a bunch of trucks pass me and then boom traffic stopped. One truck took the center ditch, one truck slid sideways, and another took a flat spot on the right slid in the grass. Glad I had my cb on.

"boy's with toys", cb "Rambo's", and such is a part of the daily/nightly routine of the road. ever since the FCC did away with the licensing/regualtions/enforcement (which they never could really enforce anyways), the c.b. airwaves became a stomping ground for jerks, of all ages, sizes, races, colors, and social-economic backgrounds. if c.b. radios were to be "regulated" as like say "ham" radios, then there just wouldn't be this type of problem. i too usually just turn it down or turn it off at various times, turning it on basically when i start to see a "sea of tail lights" ahead of me.

this will never improve, and there will never be any federal agency that can ever control the air waves for c.b. radios. and no one will ever "out-law" c.b. radios either...........like the radar detectors...............

Anonimity is the mother of all idiots.

It is easy to be a jerk when you can't be held accountable.

I don't mind some of the nonsense....Some of it can be pretty funny.
But there is alot of it that can get pretty nasty in a real quick hurry, and go down hill rapidly.

Re: Whats with the c.b. screamers

Yeh some of it doesnt bother me, if it is only a one time thing. This one day was tootling around the St. Louis area headed on up to Green Bay and this annoying dude must have been following me because this guy was screaming into the mic every 2 minutes and would hold the mic for about a min at a time. Here the rest of the truckers are trying to keep their ears open for smokies, kept telling the guy he needed to grow up but I probably made it worse.

Re: Whats with the c.b. screamers

I like the ones that want you to think they have a big radio so they talk to imaginary people, that are supposedly so far away that no one else can hear them. Some wacko that calls himself "Buckeye Diesel" does that a lot in western MD.

Re: Whats with the c.b. screamers

Well the beep is considered a courtesy beep which lets the other guy know when you release the key.

It is actually a federal regulation that you may not use profanity along with many other things on any device licensed by the FCC. This includes telephones, CB's, the internet, etc. You will never see it enforced though.
