I have had a Stryker 440 for a couple years now, and I think its time for something different. I do want a tad more power...

Who has what, and what recommendations do yall have for a new radio? RCI, Connex and Galaxy are higher on my list. I am ruling out another Stryker or Magnum unless somebody can convince me differently.

BTW, I am running a Browning antenna.

I'm running a Galaxy DX48T. It has echo, talkback and variable power all built in but no ssb. I run a Skythumper 65dx mic on it with a wilson 2000 trucker short shaft antenna. I love it.

I'm still liking my Stealth Cobra 29,its more then "plenty" of radio these
days.I think the regular RFX modded 29's are still under $200?(shipping is around $14)
Personally the "Stealth" tune is over kill in many respects for an average "truckin radio",point is both versions work and work well for the money.

I have a Galaxy 95t2 and had it tuned by RR communication in Delaware. If you dont want ssb, a Galaxy DX48T that outerspacehillbilly mentioned is also a good radio.

How much you want to spend because there are a bunch of radios that fit your wants?

    Connex 4600 turbo,Connex 4300/300,Connex 4300/400,Galaxy 95T/48T/98VHP,RCI 2970DX or the chrome RCI63FFC4.

Why do you want something else, that noisy receiving Stryker starting to get old?

........and the 490 Stryker has just as much white noise in the receive as the 440's do!

How did you measure it ? " WHITE NOISE " can be poor noise figure or high gain or both ...

I don't really have a price limit in mind.

If there are much better options out there I cant wait to check them out as I have never heard a radio that comes close to its receiving capability with the browning antenna.

When I bought it, it was a step up from the only thing I have ever owned before Cobra 29's, and that was a massive step up.

IMO the galaxy's have the best reception of any radio on the market. I can here an easy 15 miles on my 48T and wislon 2000 if there is not a ton of garbage on at that time. I think come spring I'm going to be upgrading to a Predator 10k antenna though and it'll be that much better. I think for rugged dependability and longevity you can't beat a connex. I guess it depends on what you want.
